Job Title: Software Engineer / Senior Software Engineer
Job Location: Chennai
Eligibility Criteria
Experience: 1.5 - 6 years
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering / MCA/MS
Job Responsibilities:
Experienced technical team member, contributing primarily to more complex low level design, coding, integration, problem fixes, review of work done by peers and by SE's, test reports, and documentation. May also contribute high-level design of less complex pieces
Essential Knowledge / Skill and Expertise
Candidates should have worked in any of the protocols
Protocols: SNMP, UDP, Ethernet, ATM, PPP, VLAN, MPLS, VLAN, RIP, LSIP, OSPF, BGP, ISIS, RSVP, IEEE802.1d, VLAN (IEEE802.1Q), RSTP/ MSTP, IEEE802.3ad (Link Aggregation), IGMP, IPv4, IPv6, DHCP, Unicast, Multicast Routing Protocols, QoS
Programming - C, Linux, UNIX, RTOS
Datacom skills: TCP/IP stack, OSI layer, Switching, Routing concepts, Network programming
Very good programming - ability to produce high quality and well tested code
Good grip of implementation methodology, design-code-test and tools for the design-code-test cycle in one or more areas with or without OO Methodology
Real-time-development experience using any real time operating systems
Host based (Unix or Windows) Development
Ability to raise software architectural/design issues from a deeper understanding of software design, data-structures and algorithms
Grip on specific expertise (e.g protocols, call-state-machine…) within a subsystem in a given technical domain
Ability to write test procedures, and test/observe carefully/systematically during various test phases at unit test phase
Proper use of system and library calls and good knowledge of coding practices that yield high performance with optimal use of resources
Ability to capture problem descriptions properly, and drive "recreating-problem" phase for SW Problems in a module, and fixing / testing of difficult SW Problems during various test phases
Ability to create technical documents (e.g designs, test plans, test reports) that are concise, clear and well organized
Ability to Estimate own work
Soft Competencies :
Ability to work well in a team
Ability to constructively raise issues with peers/superiors
Good Customer Etiquette recognizing we have customers from different countries
Ability to interact with the customer especially for problem solving and testing/integration (at customer site) as briefed
Ability to communicate well within team and in customer interactions (verbal, written)Good command of written English
