Job Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer – Systems Support, you will work with engineering, sales, and other groups within the company to provide technical support and problem resolution for enterprise customers. In this role, you also will collaborate with engineering to develop bug fixes and patches for customers. You will encounter a wide range of technologies, applications, and customer environments. To be successful in this role, you must be a motivated self-starter, be committed to ongoing self education, possess strong customer service skills and have excellent technical problem solving skills.
Essential Functions

* Provide engineering support for pre- and post-sales issues * Research customer issues in a timely manner and follow up directly with the customer with recommendations and action plans * Escalate cases to engineering and collaborate with them to develop solutions for complex issues * Develop patches for review and inclusion by engineering for customer issues * Leverage internal systems and tools to provide effective resolution to customer issues * Interface with engineering on product development on a day-to-day basis * Create technical knowledge base articles to capture new learning for reuse throughout the company * Participate in technical communications within the team to share best practices and learn new technologies and complimentary storage applications

Job Requirements

* 4-5+ years minimum experience in Unix, GNU/Linux system administration including 3+ years of experience in supporting customers of enterprise storage, networking or high-end server solutions. * BE in Computer Science or MCA; or 4+ years of experience in UNIX administration or technical support is required * 2+ years of experience in C programming and shell scripting in UNIX environment * Working knowledge of TCP/IP, FTP, NFS, SMB/CIFS * Demonstrated ability to compile and install Linux applications from source, including the Linux kernel and its modules * Good written and verbal communication skills with a strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in a customer facing environment * Excellent interpersonal skills and must be able to deal with challenging customer situations with professionalism * A commitment to resolving customer problems in a timely manner * Should be willing to travel based on business needs
