Full-time Quality Assurance Manager

Job Summary

In this engineering management role as Quality Assurance Manager you will provide leadership for test design, development, automation and execution for Gluster products. You will be expected to be very hands on with testing methodology and tools, having worked on complex distributed and enterprise scale products. You will also be expected to manage a small QA team to accomplish QA goals.
Essential Functions

* Work with senior management to provide and obtain product and project direction * Understand the design and specification of features to be tested * Develop test strategy, test plans and test tools * Lead development and execution of test methodology and tools * Drive continuous improvement in efficiency and effectiveness of testing * Practice latest Quality Software Engineering practices such as agile development and testing * Work on critical customer engagements when required * Develop and manage QA tools, QA processes, and metrics * Manage and grow the QA team by hiring top talent

Required Experience

* 7-15 years of hands on testing experience in Unix, GNU/Linux * A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/ Electronics with relevant experience is preferred * Extensive experience in product architecture, design, development and testing in systems, file systems, storage software or similar * Strong customer focus, ability to think like the customers of the product, while preparing test plans Technical Skills – * Strong background in testing system software products (OS, Device Driver, etc) * Strong background in server, network and storage administration and configuration * Excellent understanding of storage (SAN, FC, Infiniband) and file system technologies * Excellent debugging and problem solving skills * Excellent skills in one programming and scripting language (C/Java, Shell scripts/Perl) * Familiarity with software dev processes, code management and status reporting tools Management skills – * Experience in hiring and managing a QA team * Experience in developing metrics for status reporting, increasing automation, improving test coverage and team productivity Soft skills – * Ability to plan test execution details meticulously and identifying dependencies early * Good written/verbal communication skills to crisply and accurately report program status * Good technical leadership skills to mentor and develop new team members
