Open Source Web Specialist
Description
Join Open Source Geek Enthusiasts of AUC Ventures and help build revolutionary products for betterment of mankind. We are looking for experienced, self-motivated web developer with passion for designing user-centric interfaces. You will work in a high-energy, multi-location, fast moving team. You will work collaboratively with visual designers/researchers, software engineers, and product managers to develop leading edge user interfaces for millions of people.
We hope you're:
-- A hacker. You're comfortable hopping up and down the stack, from configuring Apache to writing CSS. Your specialties are undoubtedly PHP and Javascript, though. Given a new problem to solve, you can code fast and think even faster. We're a LAMP shop that tends to use Jquery, and that sounds like home to you. Ideally, you've built a site that has scaled to millions of users, a team of engineers, and several servers.
-- Perfect for a startup. You are mission-oriented, and want to have a lot of impact. You don't need constant oversight, but you communicate often and openly anyway. Testing and rapid iteration are the only way to know if you're right, and you feel comfortable knowing that you're often wrong the first time. You like having several responsibilities, and you know how to prioritize.
-- A fit for our culture. We are collaborative, creative, smart-working, customer-focused, and frugal. Each of us can contribute if needed by another teammate, because mutual respect and dependency is part of the setup. Any one of us could pick up the phone and talk to a user or partner. We all believe we'll succeed individually, but only if we succeed as a company.
Strong Command of
• LAMP environment (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
• Server Side Scripting such as PHP/Perl/Python
• Client Side Scripting such as CSS , HTML/XHTML, XML/XSLT, DOM Model
• Ajax, Java Script, Jquery, Interactive Design Principles
• Smartly Templating Engine
• Strong knowledge of object oriented programming / modular programming
• Solid knowledge in database schema design principals with demonstrated aptitude to apply best practices for scalable designs
• Software Development lifecycle from requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and delivery
Highly Desirable
• Hands-on experience with web application architecture and relational database design
• Knowledge of best practices for cross-platform, cross-browser compatibility
• Joomla, Wordpress & other popular open source frameworks
• Flash/Action script, Photoshop
• Understand SEO, analytics, SEM
• Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms
