MySQL Database Administrator (DBA)
This role will be responsible for the design, management, and support of MySQL databases for critical custom applications used internally by the firm and by clients of the firm.
Responsibilities will include the following:
• Managing development, test, and production environments
• Defining processes for backup and recovery
• Designing high availability solutions using MySQL
• Monitoring and tuning system performance
• Collaborating with development to improve operational characteristics
• Creating reports and data manipulation programs/scripts as necessary
• Defining standards for database use by development teams
A successful candidate will have a firm grounding the following technologies and concepts:
• MySQL 5.x
• SQL coding, especially query optimization
• Database design, normalization, etc.
• MySQL replication
• Basic Linux administration
Experience with the following technologies and concepts would further distinguish a candidate:
• Ruby on Rails
• PHP
• Pentaho, Crystal Reports, or other BI tools
• HIPAA, PCI, or related standards
In addition, a candidate should exhibit the following characteristics:
• Proficiency in analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with all departments and levels within the organization
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and clients
• Detail oriented with strong customer service skills
