About Us

mDhil is a social enterprise start-up that creates and distributes original health content for the Indian user. Our initial services are SMS-based, but we are now expanding to mobile & desktop web, as well as original video (we have over 75,000 views on our YouTube channel!). We were born out of a need for honest and frank health-related information that is factually accurate, supported by health professionals, and compelling for an Indian audience.

Our most popular topics include sexual health and women’s health, but we also create great content on diet, nutrition, beauty, lifestyle diseases, exercise, etc. Information is displayed on the website in the form of articles, health tips, images, slideshows, quizzes and videos. Our core users are urban youth (over 50,000 Facebook fans!), but we also cover topics of interest to an older audience.

mDhil was founded by a Harvard Business School graduate, and you would be joining a start-up full of bright individuals who have fun while working in a non-bureaucratic environment. We have a dedicated team of health professionals, journalists, a social media manager, a SEO whiz, and a borrowed pet-dog…all that’s really missing is you. mDhil has been recognized at venues like TED, Sankalp Mumbai, the World Bank, SXSW, and Health 2.0 San Francisco. Responsibilities

As the Web Architect you will be a senior member of the mDhil organization and a cornerstone of our growing technical team. This position reports directly to the CEO.
 Help scale the mDhil site to handle increasing amounts of traffic
 Focus on a smooth, fast, and clean user design experience
 Thinking holistically about our technology challenges as our site grows
 Managing load distribution, A/B testing, etc. for improved site performance
 Exploring new plug-ins and features to create a compelling experience for users
 Gear our site for maximum SEO in coordination with our SEO Director
 Ability to grow into a managerial role as you will be directing new engineering talent

Profile

 Computer science or equivalent degree and 4+ years of work experience
 Extensive Wordpress/.php experience…not just theme creation or installation
 Proven record of scaling sites as traffic grows
 Executing project design & management, i.e. setting and achieving clear tech milestones
 Enthusiasm to work hard and willingness to go beyond just immediate purview of work
 Current bloggers interested in social, mobile, TechCrunch, and Web 2.0 are welcomed!
 Oh, and hopefully you are fun to be around…we’ve been known to share a few beers on Fridays at the office. The boss pays for it too! 
