Position Overview
The system engineer will work closely with the web application developers and database administrator to develop and maintain system services for key web site features.
You must be able to work in a creative, highly flexible environment with quickly changing requirements. This is a web-centric environment and requires the ability to architect and build highly scalable solutions. Ability to work in a distributed network is essential using modern development techniques.
You must be able to clearly and succinctly communicate with technical and non-technical staff.
Essential Job Functions – 3 to 5 years’ experience doing the following:
Tools: Java, modperl, Linux, puppet, Apache 2, varnish, NGINX
LinuxSystems Programming
Modern web services administration
Documentation and source code control (TRAC, Subversion)
Other Requirements
Communication skills ( both written and oral )
Software engineering skills
Open Systems toolsets
Desired Skills
• Database design and development skills
o Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
o Open Source RDBMS’ (MySQL) and noSQL DBMS’
• Documentation skills to clearly communicate status and plans.
• Communication skills (both written and oral)
• Team-oriented individual focused on company goals and efforts.
