ip.access solves in-building access problems for mobile operators, opening up new revenue streams while defending existing business. ip.access helps operators to increase capacity & coverage, improve quality of experience, drive down costs and offer new converged services. nanoGSM® is a proven, end-to-end solution carrying billions of minutes of traffic every year, all over the world. Our BSCâs are now live in over 30 GSM networks across the globe. Airtel in India are a recent customer of ip.access who are looking at a major deployment of the nanGSM® system throughout the region.
The nanoGSM® BSC handles and routes all traffic between the nanoBTS⢠picocells and the operators existing Mobile Switching Center (MSC) and Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN). The BSC is a modular unit that uses IP connectivity between the nanoBTSâ¢âs and the BSC and a standard circuit-based A-interface to the MSC and SGSN. There is also an option to connect into architectures with softswitch MSCs.
Working as part of the BSC team within the Product Development, this role is responsible for the evolution and maintenance of the GSM data and voice features of the BSC platform.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for evolution and maintenance of the code implementing the protocol stacks that provide data and voice services.
- Responsible for evolution and maintenance of the code that manages and configures these protocol stacks.
- Improve the stability, reliability and performance of these protocol stacks.
- Produce/review technical specifications and design documents.
- Perform developer test and integration.
Role Requirements
- Excellent C++ development skills (minimum of 1 year, significantly more for a senior engineer position)
- Experienced in developing real-time multi-threaded event driven software (including protocol message encoding/decoding and finite state machines).
- Excellent software engineering practices and experience of using tools for source code control, object-oriented design, testing, profiling etc.
- Knowledge of GSM architecture and protocols including detailed knowledge of GPRS Ns and Gb Protocols
- Experience of developing UNIX/Linux applications.
- Experience of any of the following would also be an advantage: IP Networks and Protocols, T1/E1, Frame Relay, MTP3, M3UA, SS7 and SCCP.
